With fish meal and fish oil in short supply their market value continues to rise. Our product is extracted from an abundant, easily accessible, but previously ignored and unappreciated natural source using a cost effective, non-polluting, and energy efficient process. It takes significantly less energy to process a pound of fish by ABVRS than it does through conventional rendering methods.
The product created by the Agricultural By-Product Value Recovery System (ABVRS) starts out with the carp that are brought to our facility by commercial fishermen and paid for by government funded grant money to help solve a national environment problem. The fish are first ground up to a thick, pastey substance with its moisture and oils intact and mixed with .30% back-mix or offal (photo).
The substance enters a heat chamber where 90% of the water
content of the offal/fish is steamed out (ie-60% of starting weight),
venting an emission through a stack that is virtually odorless and
harmless. The remaining solids, which include a high percentage
of protein, are recovered as a meal product containing all of the fat
from the offal. Approximately one half of the fat is pressed from the
meal resulting in meal and oil (photo).
This meal and
oil constitute the
sellable finished
products of the
ABVRS which has
a fine, moist saw
dust consistancy.
All produced with
virtually no waste
water and no
offensive odor.
This final
product can be
pressed into fish
oil or fishmeal
